Flexor Digiti Minimi Brevis



origin: hamulus of the hamate bone and flexor retinaculum;
insertion: ulnar side of the base of the proximal phalanx of 5th finger;
action: flexes 5th digit at the metacarpophalengeal articulation;
synergists: FDS, FDP, opponens digiti minimi;
nerve supply: ulnar nerve: C8, T1;

- Discussion:
    - flexor brevis digiti minimi lies on volar surface of hypothenar area w/ small separation between it and the abductor of little finger;
    - thru this interval run the deep branches of the ulnar artery & nerve into subtendinous part of the palm of the hand;



The lateral approach compared with the volar approach for exposure of the hook of the hamate.
