- for Edema, CHF, ascites; any time rapid diuresis is desired; Loop diuretic; 
- Adult Dosing: 50-100 mg PO qd up to usual dose of 50-200mg or 0.5-1.0mg/kg IV; 
- Alternative for Pulmonary Edema: 
- 50mg IV q60min x 2 doses; 
- watch for hypokalemia; 
- Peds: 1 mg/kg IV; 25mg PO qd; increase by 25 mg increments to max 2-3 mg/kg/24hr period
