- Detached Deltoid:
- deltoid tendon & muscle that are reattached to raw acromial bone edge can pull away if they are improperly attached
- if deltoid detachment occurs, it should be repaired as soon as possible, because if fixed contracture of deltoid develops little can be done;
- Axillary Nerve Injury:
- if deltoid muscle is split anteriorly for more than 5 cm, branches of axillary nerve will be damaged, rendering corresponding portion of deltoid muscle ineffective;
- smallest split possible should be made in deltoid to permit sufficient exposure of Rotator cuff
