    - associatted conditions: (33 % of patients)
         - occult syrinx;
               - treatment of the scoliosis without recognition of syringomyelia and Chiari malformation can lead to paraplegia;
         - Arnold-Chiari
         - spinal cord tumor;
         - neuromuscular disorder;
    - MRI is usually indicated
