Thyroid Storm:
- Hyperthyroidism, Chronic Rx:

PTU: initially: 150mg PO q8hr; (max 1200mg/day)
- Methimazole (Tapazole) in PO form;
- starting dose for Methimazole (5-10mg tabs) is 10mg PO q8hr
w/ doses upto 90mg/day sometimes needed;
- because they work by inhibiting synthesis, may take upto
2-3wks for effects, & normalization in 6 wks;
