Fractures of the Distal Tibial Metaphysis

- Green Stick Fractures:
      - anterior cortex becomes impacted, & posterior cortex is frx w/ torn periosteum;
      - there is a visible recurvatum deformity;
      - Treatment:
            - reduction w/ general anesthesia because considerable force is required to
                  stretch the anterior cortex;
            - then a long leg cast is applied with the foot in plantar flexion for 3 to 4 wks
                  then short leg cast;
