- Discussion:
    - for anxiety, tension, sedation, itching (associated with allergic conditions), Antemetic, ETOH withdrawl;
    - acts as antihistamine, sedative effects, potentiates narcotics and has antiemetic effects;
    - adult: dose: anxiety or pre-op: 50-100 mg PO/IM qid or prn: max of 600mg;
    - itch: 25-50 mg PO/IM tid/qid;
    - N/V:25-100mg;
    * Not for IV use;
    - hydroxyzine will potentiate the CNS action of ETOH & other CNS depressants;
    - must decrease the Meperidine dose when using concomitantly w/ hydroxyzine;
    - note: anticholinergic effects common;
    - peds: 0.5-1 mg/kg/dose IM q6hr prn or 0.6 mg/kg/dose PO q4-6hr prn;
