Antihemophilic Factor VIII


- for treatment of classical hemophilia A to replace missing clotting factor to correct or prevent bleeding episodes of perform emergency or elective surgery; 
- Dosage: 1 AFH unit/kg increases Factor VIII concentration in body by approx 2%; 
- Prophylaxis of spontaneous hemorrhage = 5% normal; 
- Hemostasis following trauma or surgery = 30% normal; 
- Major Soft tissue bleeding = 80 - 100% normal; 
- Head injuries or major surgery = 100% + normal; 
- Note: Not effective in controlling bleeding of patients with von Willebrand's dz
