Thiopental



- Discussion:
    - thiopental is an ultrashort-acting intravenous anesthetic.
    - it is not recommended for use as the sole anesthetic for surgical procedures lasting longer than 15 min;
    - in addition to its use as anesthetic, thiopental has been used in the treatment of seizures unresponsive to anticonvulsant therapy;
    - usual dose in adults for the induction of anesthesia is 50 to 100 mg intermittently given every 30 to 40 seconds or as a single 3 to 5 mg/kg 
         injection;
    - maintenance of anesthesia: 50 to 100 mg of 2.5% solution is injected
