- for type II diabetes; long acting sulfonylurea;
- Adult: 2.5-10mg PO qd, titrated to response;
- Precautions:
- reduce dose in elderly; disulfiram rxn;
- contraindicated w/ DKA, use w/ caution in patients w/ renal or hepatic dz;
- hypoglycemic action of glipizide may be potentiated by drugs that are highly protein bound;
- beta blocking agents may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia
