Articular Surface Frx of Clavicle: (Type III)

- Discussion:

  • involves articular surface of the AC joint alone;
  • w/ type III frx there is a displacement of articular surface w/o lig injury;
  • frx may be subtle, & may be confused w/ 1st deg AC separation;
  • it may present as late degenerative arthrosis of the AC joint;
  • this may lead to osteolysis of distal clavicle;
    • resorption of distal clavicle, and may occur from increased vascularity secondary to microfractures
