Frx thru Tubercle of the Scaphoid

- Discussion:
    - frx usually is not widely displaced, and healing is generally prompt if immobilization in a plaster gaunlet is maintained for 6-8 wks;
           - frx of distal third heal in approx 6-8 weeks;
    - if x-rays fail to clearly demonstrate trabeculae crossing site of frx, CT scan along axis of carpal scaphoid is performed;
- Vascular Supply to Distal Scaphoid:
     - tubercle & distal 20-30 % of scaphoid are supplied by palmar vessels;
     - in few specimens, two or three vessels enter tip of tubercle & penetrate the scaphoid as far as waist
