- stress beyond the elastic limit that results in permanent bending, deflection, or deformation (i.e., the metal goes from pure elastic behavior to a combination of elastic/plastic elongation);
- metals ranked according to yeild strength (highest to lowest);
- cast cobalt chrome > titanium > wrought cobalt chrome, stainless steel
