- For diarrhea; inhibits excessive gastrointestinal motility; - Adult: intitially 2 tabs or 10ml PO tid/qid, til controlled, then 1 tab or 5ml PO bid; - Can be habit forming; - Avoid w/ infectious diarrhea; - Peds: < 2yrs: Do not use; 2-5 yrs: 6mg/24hr PO divided tid; - 5-8 yrs: 8mg/24hrs PO divided qid; - 8-12 yrs: 10 mg/24hr PO divided in 5 doses; - Supplied: Tabs: 2.5 mg diphenoxylate/0.025 mg atropine; Liquid: 2.5 mg diphenoxylate/0.025 atropine per 5 ml;
