AO/ASIF Femoral Distractor

- indications:
    - allows unobstructed view of articular surface of acetabulum;
- technique:
    - proximal bolt is inserted in the iliac wing in its superior portion,
          just distal to thickened crest;
          - proximal bolt must pass thru portion of ilium in continuity w/ sacrum
                (or frx proximal to this point must be stabilized) prior to application
                of a distraction force;
    - distal bolt is positioned through both cortices of femur distal to the
          greater trochanter
    - distraction of the femur distally permits controlled, sustained
          visualization of the superior acetabular articular surface;
    - internal and external rotation of the femoral shaft allows improved
          visualization of the anterior and posterior aspects of acetabular
          articular surfaces;
