Antimalarials
- clinical response can be anticipated within three to six months
after initiating therapy with approximately 40%-60% of patients able
to expect a beneficial response.
- upper end of dosage used in treatment of RA is 3-4 mg/kg/day for
chloroquine and 6-7.5 mg/kg/day for hydroxychloroquine;
- corneal deposits occur in up to 50% of patients receiving antimalarial drugs
but these do not generally cause visual impairment; these deposits are
reversible and not a contraindication to sustained therapy;
