Year Book: External Fixation of Colles' Fractures: An Anatomical Study

Jenkins-N-H. Jones-D-G. Johnson-S-R. Mintowt-Czyz-W-J. 1988 Year Book of Orthopedics. Article 7-11. J. Bone Joint Surg. (Br.). 1987 Mar. 69-B. pp 207-211. It is usually possible to achieve a satisfactory manipulative reduction of Colles' fracture. However, holding the reduced position at improving the anatomical results have focused on external fixation. Although it has been reported that external fixation is more effective than other methods of treatment, there have been no controlled studies to substantiate this conclusion. The goal of the study was to carry out a prospective, randomized, and controlled investigation to compare the anatomical results of treating Colles' fracture by either external fixation or plaster.
