Triple osteotomy of the pelvis. A review of 51 cases

Clin-Orthop. 1990 Jun(255): 133-7 From 1980 to 1987, 43 patients (51 hips) were treated by triple pelvic (ischium, ilium, and pubis) osteotomy for moderate to severe symptomatic acetabular dysplasia. They were followed postoperatively for an average of 48 months (range, 18 to 84 months). In 41 patients (43 hips; 96%) there was dramatic relief of pain. The mean center-edge angle improved from 13.4 degrees to 36.1 degrees. The coverage of the femoral head was improved by an average of 25%. The authors conclude that triple osteotomy of the pelvis gives consistently good and predictable results with regard to pain relief and adequate femoral head coverage.
