- Discussion:
- Anterior Capsule:
- a curved retractor is passed anterior to the anteior capsule and
superior to psoas major tendon;
- retract femur anteriorly w/ a bone hook to keep capsule under tension;
- if sig flexion contracture is present before hip is dislocated, note
tight structures capsule & insertions of
rectus femoris
&
sartorius) & incise them after dissecting along anterior border of
Medius w/ hip flexed & externally rotated as such as possible;
- w/ relatively short head and neck segment, consider the need for complete
capsulotomy during surgery;
- capsule is sectioned, allowing femur to be mobilized anteriorly w/ an
intrapelvic cobra retractor placed just inferior to to ASIS;
