Special Topic: Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome: Consensus

Report of an Ad Hoc Committee of the American Association for Hand Surgery on the Definition of Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome. Amadio-Peter-C. Mackinnon-Susan-E. Merritt-Wyndell-H. Brody-Garry-S. Terzis-Julia-K. Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. 1991 Feb. 87(2). pp 371-375. AB In December of 1987, the American Association for Hand Surgery (AAHS) organized an ad hoc committee to study reflex sympathetic dystrophy and specifically to make recommendations for a workable clinical definition of the condition. The committee met on February 24, 1988, April 17, 1988, May 1, 1988, and September 28, 1988. Its consensus report was accepted by the AAHS Board of Directors on June 4, 1989. The report is published in the hope that it may be of some use to clinicians who treat patients in whom a diagnosis of reflex sympathetic dystrophy is considered.
