Three consecutive patients with ruptured Baker's cysts, verified by duplex scan, were found to have ecchymosis on the dorsum of the foot. The appearance of ecchymosis can be helpful in differentiating a ruptured cyst from cellulitis or deep-vein thrombosis. Author-abstract.
