- Discussion:
    - normally there is no activity at resting muscle;
    - denervated muscle fibers become spontaneously active, producing fibrillation potentials & positive sharp waves approx 10-20 days after 
           nerve injury;
    - this test assists in differentiating neuropathic muscle atrophy from myopathic atrophy
