Pressurized cement fixation in total hip arthroplasty

Weber-BG Orthopadie am Rosenberg, Switzerland. Clin-Orthop. 1988 Jul(232): 87-95 In a follow-up study of 108 total hip arthroplasties, the 92% excellent and good results after seven to 11 years of implantation are evidence in support of cement fixation. The precision of the cementing technique is essential for a high percentage of successful results after ten or more years. Restricted reaming, brushing and lavage to remove debris, use of high-viscosity cement, and pressurization of the cement are of paramount importance.
