Muscle has low-intermediate signal intensity on both

images where as inflammation and lesions of muscle will have an
increased signal on
T1 & (even higher on)
T2 images,
- its important to note that normal muscles may have an increased signal on
T2 images, when they are adjacent to neoplasms;
