- for type II diabetes; sulfonylurea hypoglycemic; 
- Adult: 5mg PO qAM; titrate as need; 
- Precautions: 
- reduce dose in elderly; watch disulfiram rxn;

- contraindicated w/ DKA, use w/ caution in patients w/ renal or hepatic dz; 
- hypoglycemicaction of glipizide may be potentiated by drugs that are highlyprotein bound; 
- beta blocking agents may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia
