Cortisone Acetate


- Cortone:
    - for IM injection only (NOT for IV use)
          - initial dose varies from 20 mg to 300 mg / day depending on disease
          - daily dosage may be given via single IM injection
          - slow onset but long duration of action compared to soluble preparations, thus, it is a good choice when daily steroid
                  is required and PO therapy is not possible;
    - indications:
          - andrenocortical deficiency (may also use hydrocortisone)
          - hypercalcemia associatted with cancer
          - inflammatory Arthritis (R.A., P.A., A.S., S.L.E.)
          - asthma, hypersensitivity reactions, transfusion reactions

- Cortone Acetate Tablets:
    - initial dose from 25 mg to 300 mg PO depending on the disease
    - supplied in 25 mg tabs
