Eckert-WR; Davis-EA Jr J-Bone-Joint-Surg-Am. 1976 Jul; 58(5): 670-2 The anatomy of the superior peroneal retinaculum at the ankle includes a sheath somewhat distinct from a fibrous lip extending from the periosteum of the fibula at the lateral aspect of the lip of the groove. In seventy-three cases of injury to the retinaculum, three grades of injury were recognized. Surgical repair was quite successful except in three cases.
